The electricity demand of the service area in Karachi determines the energy produced on a dynamic basis. The KESC produces electricity from it’s own generation fleet. It also purchases electricity from NTDC, IPP’s (Independent Power Producers) and KANUPP (Karachi Nuclear Power Plant), based on an optimized generation cost that is governed by the fuel cost at the respective power facilities and their operating efficiencies.
