Karachi, August17: Karachi Electric Supply Company stated, that a large number of public parks and gardens across the city are in default due to non-payment of electricity dues to KESC, which runs into Millions of rupees. On Friday, 17th August, KESC disconnected 50 such parks which had a cummalative default of Rs. 197.3 Million.
Out of these 50, 10 parks belong to the EDO Services & Works which is in default of Rs. 105.9 Million; 23 parks belong to the TMA, which has unpaid electricity dues or Rs. 50.9 Million; and 17 parks belong to the UC's, which owe the power utility Rs. 40.3 Million.
KESC said, that it is on a constant crackdown against the power theives and defaulters alike and it has a zero tolerance policy against willful defaulters. The power utility further stated that it operates without discrimination against such unscrupulous elements who are not only creating losses for the utility, but also committing injustice against the honest bill paying customers.
