KARACHI, Aug. 28: The Karachi Electric Supply Company's security staff and Rangers foiled an armed robbery attempt by over a dozens dacoits at Valika Grid Station early this morning. The dacoits escaped after exchange of fire taking four weapons along. One security guard was injured.
At about 04:15 am Saturday morning, more than 12 armed dacoits entered the Valika Grid Station after scaling the rear boundary wall. Five security guards, one KESC employee and four from a private company, who were having Sehri at the main gate spotted the intruders and opened fire. The dacoits responded with gunshots and overpowered the guards and snatched their weapons. In the meanwhile, the duty operator at the Grid informed KESC Control and a KESC patrolling mobile from Valika-Baldia line and a Rangers mobile reached the scene. Heavy fire was exchanged between the two sides which forced the dacoits to flee with four stolen shotguns.
The KESC security guard Khalid Khan who was struck in the head with pistol butt by the dacoits was taken to nearby hospital where he was given first aid. No other damage was reported to the Grid property. An FIR has been lodged with the police.
