KARACHI, June 13: Karachi Electric Supply Company has noted with concern the unending incidents of violence by miscreants at various offices and asked all sections of society to manage to spare the power utility of highhandedness and vested interest. The utility also asked the authorities and law enforcement agencies to safeguard the utility at all costs under law.
On June 13, a group of miscreants attacked VIBC Gulistan-e-Jauhar and forced the drivers not to move any maintenance vehicles on the pretext of general strike. They physically manhandled the drivers and badly injured one of them, Ali Dino. He was immediately shifted to hospital where he was stated to be in critical condition.
Last night, around 100 miscreants forced entry into KESC’s Khokhar club office in Cantonment area and put the record and furniture on fire. Staff members present on spot saved their lives by vacating the office. The miscreants attacked the offices on the excuse of low voltage in Cantonment pumping station feeder. The same office was attacked by bill defaulters a few days back. KESC had reported the matter to police and demanded security but no action was taken.
KESC said that electricity supply and maintenance of distribution system needed to be spared of all adverse activities since they had been serving the interests of entire population of Karachi and not one or another group of people. Therefore, the saner section of society as well as the law enforcement agencies needed to prevail upon the over active elements and preempt any untoward situation which could harm the power supply system in the interest of general public.
