KARACHI, June 29: Karachi Electric Supply Company has condemned harassment incidents of its inspection teams by unruly mobsters in Gulistan-e-Jauhar and C Centre areas on Thursday and asked the authorities to provide peaceful and secure environment to KESC employees for performance of their responsibilities.
A group of armed mobsters threatened and harassed a KESC team in Gulshan-e-Umair near Scheme 33 in Gulistan-e-Jauhar while another group threatened a team at Al-Falah Society near C Centre area while they were inspecting power supply lines and possible theft occurrence. The first KESC team included a female trainee engineer as well. In both cases the intruders threatened the KESC employees of being fired upon next time they would visit these places for inspection.
KESC said that the utility employees could not be stopped from performing their public interest responsibilities through harassment and threats but the civil authorities needed to bring to task these unscrupulous elements. KESC also asked the saner sections of society to prevail upon such undesired elements that could disrupt smooth functioning of the power utility.
