KESC relief camps now sheltering 5,000 flood victims

KESC RELIEF CAMPS NOW SHELTERING 5,000 FLOOD VICTIMS

KARACHI, Aug. 27: The Karachi Electric Supply Company has stepped up relief activities in view of the increased displacement and now the KESC camps in Thatta are providing shelter, food and medical aid to over 5,000 flood victims as against the previous number of 3,500, says a Press Release issued here.

 

The KESC base camp at Makli, Thatta, with additional tents pitched up is also housing displaced persons besides the other two camps at Monarki and Surjani. Arrangements are underway to accommodate even more displaced persons during the coming days in view of the evacuation of Thatta City and adjoining areas by authorities.

 

With the need increasing, the KESC has expedited relief collection drive in Karachi and has appealed to the general public for more humanitarian donations. So far the KESC call has received positive response from various sections of society and among others the Coca Cola Beverages Pakistan has donated food hampers for 200 families. Amn Foundation has also been collaborating to provide medical help and has treated around 500 patients at KESC camps.
