10,000 SAVER BULBS FOR BOULTON MARKET ARSON VICTIMS

KARACHI: The Karachi Electric Supply Company has finalised distribution of up to 10,000 energy savers to donate to traders in Boulton Market affected during blast and arson on Dec. 28 last, all under its “Always With Karachi” community support banner.

The KESC is partnering with CDGK to allocate and distribute the savers among victims of arson and fire at M. A. Jinnah Road on Ashura Day. The utility will distribute these high quality savers by the end of this month in partnership with Philips Electrical Industries of Pakistan free of cost to businesses in the locality.

An announcement to this effect was made by KESC on Jan. 5 as part of a relief package for the victims. The defined requirement of energy savers for the area, as agreed with CDGK, is approximately 10,000 units.

The KESC has procured 6,000 bulbs from the Philips, which will provide 4,000 bulbs free, as part of its own social contribution to the affected area.

Mr. Tabish Gauhar, CEO of KESC, said: “We will keep doing what we can – and our staff and management are fully behind this goal. We are fully behind CGDK, fully behind the Nazim and his team -  and fully behind business in Karachi. We have limitations, mainly financial, but the businesses of Karachi needs to be assured that it is my personal goal for KESC to have been seen to have done its utmost at this key time. I want this to be something that KESC employees and their families remember with pride. And most of all, I want Karachi to be proud of KESC.”
