KARACHI CITY

One of the most populous cities in the world, Karachi spans 3,530 kilometre squares from the Clifton beach to Malir Cantonment.

Following the 1947 partition of the subcontinent into Pakistan and India, thousands of refugees from India made Karachi their new home. It has since grown into a bustling, vibrant metropolis that Karachiittes call the "The city of lights".

The financial and industrial hub of the country, several established corporations and major companies are located in the city. The Karachi Stock Exchange, situated in the financial district of the metropolis, is not only one of the most active stock markets in Pakistan but also in the region. A coastal city that borders the Arabian Sea, Karachi has two harbours: Port Karachi and the country's main and busiest one, Port Qasim.
