Mr. Arshad Zahidi joined Abraaj in 2008. He has more than 16 years of industry experience, with particular expertise in the fertiliser and power sectors.
Prior to joining Abraaj he was with Engro Chemical Pakistan Limited, and from 1998 to 2000 he was a process engineer at Qatar Fertilizer Company (QAFCO).
Mr. Zahidi's past experiences include the development of a 220MW independent power project with China National Construction and the implementation of an environmental improvement project at an ammonia-urea complex. His experience also includes having been responsible for the de-bottlenecking of a urea plant as a design engineer with Japanese technology providers Toyo Engineering Corporation.
At Abraaj, Mr. Zahidi has been involved in the acquisition and post acquisition oversight of Bosicor Petroleum Limited and Karachi Electric Supply Corporation. He has been involved in the development of a 560MW gas based power project with Harbin Power Engineering Company, and a 180MW gas engine based power plant with GE Jenbacher, and is leading the construction and commissioning of a 220MW gas based combined cycle plant with Metka Engineering and Construction Company. He is also responsible for implementing a 50MW gas based rental power project with Aggreko Global.
Mr. Zahidi holds a Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology in Pakistan.
