Ghufran has demonstrated a strong ability to create, build and manage mega brands and profitable businesses throughout his professional life. He has worked extensively in brand and sales management with the food giant Nestle in Pakistan and central Asia.
Ghufran was part of the team that turned around the largest public sector bank, Habib Bank Limited (HBL). He managed the corporate ID change process for the bank, created two mega businesses and effectively managed the sports marketing program of the bank. He left the bank in 2000 and was rehired in 2006 to set up cards and personal finance business, which he did by implementing an integrated technology platform.
At Union Bank, he went on to become one of the most dynamic and profitable consumer banks with over 12% market share. Ghufran also has to his credit, setting up a bank from scratch. He led the efforts of setting up retail and consumer businesses supported by marketing, quality and risk management functions.
